Passages at the Nest

Passages at the Nest, curated by AIRIE Creative Director and 2022 AIRIE fellow Cornelius Tulloch, is an exhibition of physical works and film that reveals connections our 2022 AIRIE fellows found or created in the Everglades and celebrates stories of this natural landscape. Through these passages, artists have created a sense of purpose, place, and lineage. In addition to Tulloch, participating artists include Arsimmer McCoy, Francisco Masó, Kunya Rowley, Lola Flash, M. Carmen Lane, and Ania Freer. Read More.

On Saturday, January 28th, AIRIE welcomed more than 70 guests from across South Florida to the opening reception of “Passages at the Nest.” The reception included a discussion with Cornelius Tulloch and participating artists about their work and a conversation with Dejha Carrington, co-founder of Commissioner.

Following the reception, AIRIE staff, members of Commissioner and Outdoor Afro, and other event attendees went on a magical wet hike through the Everglades' most alluring habitat: the cypress dome. ENP Park Ranger, Olivia, and AIRIE fellow and Residency Coordinator, Arsimmer McCoy, guided the group and shared a scientific and artistic interpretation of this unique landscape. Passages at the Nest is presented by Build McKenzie and in sponsorship with Friends of the Everglades.
