Jewel is the 2025 - 2029 State Poet of Nebraska, a three-time Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards nominee for Best Performance Poet in Omaha, a 2022 Union for Contemporary Art Fellow, and a 2023 Andy Warhol - Populus Fund Grantee. An interdisciplinary poet, performer, and visual artist, Jewel is also an urban engagement specialist and spatial practitioner in the Midwest.

Jewel has appeared in projects such as 100 Years | 100 Women (Park Avenue Armory—NY, NY), TEDxLincoln and TEDxOmaha (Nebraska), and Amplifying the Black Experience (Opera Omaha—OMA, NE), as well as various civic events throughout the country, including Atlanta, GA and Oklahoma City, OK.

As a spoken word poet, Jewel offers her skill to support social intervention, such as her contributions to The Women’s March and the Charlottesville Vigil in Lincoln, NE, inclusive of community engagement supporting the City of Omaha. She is also a slam poetry coach for the Nebraska Writers Collective.

Alongside her artistic practice, Jewel is working toward reshaping the built environment. After earning a Master’s in Real Estate Development (New York University) and completing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (University of Nebraska-Lincoln), she continues toward the long-term goal of co-creating our community through mindful spatial practice.
